Cannes – Mipcom, October 15th, 2018
For immediate release
Elephant and Federation have signed a joint distribution agreement for new shows produced by Elephant.
Created by Emmanuel Chain and Thierry Bizot, Elephant specializes in original shows. It has become one of France’s biggest independent fiction producers.
Among the shows produced by the company’s Fiction department, led by Gaelle Cholet and Guillaume Renouil, are: Fais pas ci, fais pas ça (Desperate Parents) (France 2), Le tueur du lac (Killer by the Lake) (TF1), La stagiaire (The Intern) (France 3), WorkinGirls (Canal+) and Parents Mode d’Emploi (The PIM: Parenthood Instruction Manual) (France 2).
This agreement corroborates Elephant’s strategy consisting of developing co-productions and French shows on an international level. It’s also a natural evolution since Sandra Ouaiss came on board as Executive producer, Head of International.
This agreement strengthens Elephant’s strategy of developing co-productions and French shows for the global market – a natural evolution following Sandra Ouaiss’ recent arrival to Elephant. The company also has a branch in Italy (Elephant Italia) which has adapted Desperate Parents for the Italian market, and an English subsidiary named Chalkboard.
With offices in Paris and Los Angeles, Federation Entertainment (created by Pascal Breton in 2013) is one of the best-known and most dynamic independent distributors worldwide, with an array of international successes to its name, including The Bureau, Bad Banks, Hostages, Marseille and Find me in Paris.
Elephant’s Emmanuel Chain and Thierry Bizot are “very proud of this ambitious move, designed to give original French shows the limelight they deserve on the international stage.”
Pascal Breton, for Federation Entertainment: ‘’When it comes to bringing together indie European talents, what better partners than the incredibly creative teams at Elephant?! We are happy to be able to share with them our know-how in terms of distribution, pre-financing and partnerships, to really help their shows flourish on the global market.”
