Paris – Lille / Series Mania, March 26, 2019

For immediate release

Cinéfrance Studios, Federation Entertainment and Don’t Be Shy announce the production of LA RECHERCHE, a series adapted from the work of Marcel Proust, In Search of Lost Time.

Marcel Proust’s monumental novel In Search of Lost Time is considered by many to be the greatest novel of the twentieth century. The seven volume work follows the narrator’s recollections of childhood and experiences into adulthood, during late 19th century to early 20th century aristocratic France, while reflecting on the loss of time and lack of meaning to the world.

Acclaimed French actor and director Guillaume Gallienne (multi-warded for his amazing work on both sides of the camera for Me, Myself and Mum, a huge success in France) will create, direct and coproduce the series. His encounter with Proust promises to stand out as one of France’s most exciting TV projects of the past few years.

He will work with a talented team of writers from the world of drama and literature.

Federation Entertainment (Pascal Breton, Lionel Uzan) and Cinéfrance Studios (Julien Deris, David Gauquié) will handle executive production of the series. Three seasons of 8 X 52 minutes are planned.

Guillaume Gallienne: “Should we live every minute as if it were the first or last of our life.

Is beauty what we live, or the stories our memories create? Give me 24 hours and I’ll give you an answer. Not mine, but that of Marcel Proust, in the most beautiful saga ever written ‘Remembrance of things past’.

As much as to lift Proust’ work out of it’s personal museum as to make it my own, I have chosen to set ‘Remembrance’ in the 1970’s-90’s. This was a period where time was not accelerated. Telephones were still attached to cords, aristocrats still had servants and my grandmother was still alive. These years were our yesterdays, and if for some they were considered as Post-war, for us they were already our Pre-war’’.

David Gauquié & Julien Deris, Cinéfrance Studios: ”We are delighted to accompany Guillaume Gallienne in this encounter with such a literary masterpiece. Guillaume’s talent precedes him and will serve him well in this exciting undertaking”.

Pascal Breton, Federation Entertainment : ‘’Few projects demonstrate ambition—not to mention audacity—quite like Galienne’s Proust! His flair for creative adventure is essential for renewing the genre in France, and Guillaume is clearly one of our most talented writers.’’

The series will be distributed internationally by Federation Entertainment.
