Federation Entertainment launches documentary division 

Myriam Weil joins the company as Head of Documentary

After the smashing success of LES BLEUS 2018, Au Cœur de l’Épopée Russe last summer (7M viewers in prime-time on TF1) FEDERATION ENTERTAINMENT is announcing the creation of a Documentary division under the direction of Myriam Weil (ex Canal+, Black Pills).

Already renowned for its premium drama series (The Bureau, Marseille, Bad Banks…) and youth programs (Find me in Paris, via sister company Cottonwood Media) FEDERATION intends to continue into the documentary genre with the same selective strategy: high-end productions with a global reach for all platforms. Myriam Weil and her team will explore a myriad of subjects; ranging from sports to music and lifestyle, for all audiences.

FEDERATION’s first foray into documentary began with the docu-event series following the French football team to their World Cup win in July 2018. The series, co-produced with Yvette Production and with an exclusive partnership with the French Football Federation, gave a unique, insider look into the team’s training and players mentalities leading up to the final match, and attracted 7 million viewers in primetime on TF1. Federation is looking to continue its success in the documentary arena; capturing critical cultural moments at the right time.

The newly announced division will hit the ground running, as an agreement with Universal Music France has already been signed to develop a collection of documentaries on the most iconic artists of the music industry giant, for a platform and French channel.

Myriam Weil started her career as a journalist for groups such as Excelsior, Condé Nast, and Lagardère Active before taking on the role of editor-in-chief. She also wrote for Rue89, a website founded by Pierre Haski, before collaborating on the show Service Public produced by Isabelle Giordano on France Inter.

After five years with Canal +, first as editor-in-chief of Grand 8, a daily talk show hosted by Laurence Ferrari, then at Grand Journal as an editorial producer, she joined Blackpills, an app intended for 15-30 year olds, launching digital content (documentaries, clips, talk shows …) and available in over twenty countries.
