Simona Rapino joins Fabula Pictures as COO
Cannes – Mipcom, October 16th, 2018
For immediate release
Federation Entertainment (Pascal Breton) and Fabula Pictures (Nicola and Marco de Angelis) are proud to announce that Federation has taken a 51% stake in the Italian production company.
Federation has, for some time, identified Fabula as one of the most exciting and talented companies in Italy. Founded 5 years ago by Nicola and Marco de Angelis, both with an extensive expertise in filmmaking, the Rome-based company has already distinguished itself with innovative work in TV and in cinema, producing high-end content made for the Italian market and with a global reach (Callas, with Noomie Rapace ; Lampedusa, TV-series for Rai). Their latest project, Baby, the second series ever commissioned by Netflix in Italy, is coming out on the streaming platform on November 30th. Written by a pool of young authors, the series was inspired by the 2014 prostitution scandal, which involved upper-class Italian schoolgirls and men of influence in Rome.
Simona Rapino has just been appointed COO at Fabula. After 8 years at a major Investment company in Paris, Simona has joined the company in Rome. Her mission is to help structure this fast-developing company and sustain its growth, most notably with its two international coproductions currently in development for Rai and Mediaset.
Pascal Breton, CEO Federation Entertainment: “Nicola and Marco have quickly grown into one of Italy’s top producers of premium series, both for Italian broadcasters and digital platforms, and they have taken their place among the new and dynamic generation of creators of Italian series aimed at the global market. Federation has already developed strong ties with Italian broadcasters and producers, as well as provided several series to global platforms, so we’re naturally very excited to acquire a majority share in Fabula, which will give the company the means to speed up its development and capacity to create and finance major international series. I love Italy and its culture, and I hope we will be able to coproduce a great deal of content to help spread Italy’s rich culture and language around the globe.”
Nicola de Angelis, co-CEO Fabula Pictures: ‘’We are very pleased to join Federation, a company with which we have so much in common in terms of our vision of the market, creative demand and our appetite for innovation. We are certain that with the support and expertise of Pascal Breton and his team we will be able to boost our development and become an independent global studio in Italy, like Federation in France’’.
