PARIS/CANNES – Monday 4th April, 2016

Federation Entertainment has finalised a deal with Belgian outfit Ella Prod and prodco Helicotronc, for the thriller crime TV series The Break.  As part of the deal, Federation has secured worldwide distribution rights to the series, whilst Ella Prod retains rights for Benelux and France.  The announcement was made today by Lionel Uzan, Managing Director and Co-Founder, Federation Entertainment.

The Break, which is commissioned by and co-produced with RTBF (Belgian television), is produced by Anthony Rey from Helicotronc, and directed by Matthieu Donck, who also co-wrote the series alongside Stephane Bergmans and Benjamin D’Aoust.

Following on from the successful launch of Season 1 on RTBF, the broadcaster has already recommissioned Season 2, which is currently in development.

“We are thrilled to have signed this acquisition deal as The Break is a riveting crime series, and a great title to add to our growing catalogue.  This acquisition marks our continued desire to acquire high-end productions from a broad range of international producers and showcase the incredible talent coming out of European territories,” commented Lionel Uzan.

The Break (10 x 52’) – On March 17th 2014, the body of a nineteen-year old Driss M’boma, a footballer with Heiderfield football club is pulled out of the river Semois, a stone’s throw away from Heiderfeld, a small town of a few thousand inhabitants in the Belgian Ardennes.  The investigation is led by Inspector Yoann Peeters, who recently moved there after a domestic tragedy, accompanied by Sébastian Drummer, an idealistic and inexperienced young police officer.  Peeters will find himself confronted with a real conundrum, where one person’s guilt does not mean that the others are not responsible.
