The 6 X 52’ thriller produced by Letterbox Filmproduktion and Iris Productions

will be shown during a World Premiere in Berlin on February 21st 2018

as part of the Berlinale Series selection.

Federation Entertainment announces sales in Europe, Australia and New-Zealand for BAD BANKS, a 6 x 52’ Machiavellian thriller set in the ruthless world of international finance and the stock market. The series is produced by Letterbox Filmproduktion (Germany) and Iris Production (Luxembourg) with the participation of ZDF and ARTE.


In Europe, the series has been sold to HBO Europe for all territories in Central Europe and Scandinavia and to Channel 4 – Walter Presents in the UK, to RTE in Ireland, to Sundance TV Iberia in Spain and Portugal, and to RTP in Portugal. The show has also been acquired by SBS in Australia and by Rialto in New Zealand.

These sales precede the World Premiere screening of the first two episodes of BAD BANKS which will take place in Berlin, on Wednesday, February 21st at 5pm. This event will be part of the Official Selection for the Berlinale Series. It’s noteworthy that the series was partly shot in Berlin, as well as in Luxembourg, Frankfurt, London and Bahrein.


A web of power struggles, manipulations and betrayals await in this brilliant thriller that takes us into the very heart of global stock markets, surrounded by a world on the verge of chaos.


Sizzle reels of BAD BANKS were shown to the international market during the MIPDrama Screenings in 2017. The series was selected as a “Work in Progress”.


The series was written by Oliver Kienle (Stronger Than Blood, Four Hands), and directed by Christian Schwochow (Paula, NSU German History X), and features a prestigious cast, including Paula Beer (Frantz, Diplomatie), Désirée Nosbusch, Tobias Moretti, Barry Atsma, Jean-Marc Barr. BAD BANKS is coproduced by Letterbox Filmproduktion, Iris Productions and ZDF with the participation of ARTE, and the support of the Film Fund Luxembourg, Hessen Film and Medien, and the German Motion Picture Fund.
